- Synopsis
- Looks at national identity and its importance in giving people a sense of who they are and where they belong. Explores the history of identity and suggests that national identity has a history which might be said to be a created history. People in England and Scotland are interviewed to learn the kinds of links and bonds people feel with a particular culture or community. Also uses images from popular culture, which is one of the main sources of people’s notions of national identity.
