Synopsis
A video-based teaching pack looking at counselling through the story of a recently qualified staff nurse who has been working on a male surgical ward for three months. Initially she settled into her duties well, but lately her behaviour has inexplicably deteriorated. The ward sister attempts to counsel her but with no success. Subsequently she is interviewed by the nursing officer who sets out to discover the real causes of her poor work performance. The pack covers: aims of counselling, when a manager needs to counsel, stages in counselling, coping with resistant behaviour.
