Discusses the need for improved heat detection. Emphasises the benefits to be gained thereby and gives a guide to the recognition of oestrus in the cow. Outlines currently available aids to supplement normal oestrus detection regimes are outlined and some current experimental work, which may lead to the development of new aids in the future is described.
