Ocean Waves

Synopsis
Ocean waves are followed from generation and propagation to final dissipation on the beaches of Northumberland. The interaction between waves and coastal configurations of various types is demonstrated, including conditions which might favour ‘destructive’ or ‘constructive’ activity. The relationship between wave energy and sea shore life is illustrated. The film touches on most of the concepts related to sea waves. With the aid of animated overlays, a wave tank is used to explain wave energy in terms of its potential and kinetic components. Breaking waves are examined in the wave tank.
