N Cycle: The Nitrogen Cycle in Grazed Grassland

Synopsis
A CAL model of the nitrogen cycle that calculates the amounts of nitrogen in the major transformation of the nitrogen cycle in grazed grassland. It presents the results as a dynamic display, with which the user can interact. It represents in a novel way many of the relationships that govern the flow of nitrogen in a farming system. Students can investigate the effects of nitrogen fertiliser inputs and location (climate, rotation, age of sward, soil type and drainage status) on the processes and annual outputs of the nitrogen cycle from a grazed or cut grassland system. Approximately 15 hours of teaching material.
