Metrology for Industry

Synopsis
As manufacturing is being refined and closer working tolerances specificed for high-precision components, metrology is becoming increasingly important in all sectors of industry. The course illustrates how to achiveve the requirements of improved quality and a higher reliability through precise metrology.
1: Instrument development; stylus techniques; non-contact surface assessment; parameters used for defining surface texture.
2: Historical developments; two-dimensional measurement in the electronics industry; three-dimensional measurement; measurement pricniples; types of co-ordinate measuring machines; probing techniques.
3: Applications in the field of electronics; interferometric measurement; measurement of texture and form; holographic techniques; electronic speckle pattern interferometry.
4: What is roundness?; instruments used in measuring roundness, roundness parameters, harmonic analysis of roundness; cylindricity.
