Synopsis
Video-based training packages looking at the challenges that face business as the new millenium approaches, and the part which emerging technology will play in the way business is done. The video element of each module comprises of a drama, two or more case studies and a discussion.
1: Demystifies the Internet and looks at the costs and benefits of this technology, highlighting security and legal implications as well as discovering how the Internet will affect the way we work (and play) in the future. Case studies examples are British Airways, UPS Oxford Molecular and the Internet Music Shop.
2: The technology of the Internet lends itself to the sharing of knowledge held inside an organisation. Many companies are now realising the financial and strategic benefits of managing their internal information by means of this technology and are setting up their own intranets. Case studies are BT and Nomura International.
3: Looks at issues of leadership skills in management. Case studies are Reckitt and Colman, General Accident, and NatWest.
4: Looks at business alliances as practical solutions to business expansion across borders and across areas of expertise. Emphasises the need for proper planning, execution and monitoring and the need for an equal commitment from the partners. Case studies are MAID plc, GEC-Marconi and Cadence Design Systems.
5: Discusses risk management - how problems can be anticipated and planned for, minimising the risk of unexpected losses. Case stsudies are British Steel and Standard Charted Bank.
