Isolated Smooth Muscle Preparation

Synopsis

Describes in two parts the essential stages in the setting up of an isolated rabbit duodenum preparation. Part 1 shows the type of equipment used for maintaining isolated smooth muscle in a physiologically responsive state and the necessary preliminary preparations for setting up. Part 2 shows the removal of the muscle from the animal and the method of setting up in an organ bath. Also shows the manner in which responses to drugs are initiated and recorded.
