Begins with the early history of prestressed concrete and the pioneering work of French engineer, Eugène Freyssinet. Animated sequences show how prestressing increases the tensile strength of concrete; pre- and post-tensioning are demonstrated. Finally shows how prestressing is used in segmental construction where it is particularly suitable for bridges and flyovers.
