Introduction to Mechatronic System Design with Applications

Synopsis
A video course in mechatronics, a concept in product design, allows engineers to integrate mechanical engineering, electronics and computer science into a fundamental design process, rather than engineering each set of requirements separately. As the product is run through the mechatronic design process, the engineer can see the final product as a whole, yielding products with greater quality, reliability, performance and more benefits to the customer. This course teaches 1) mechatronic system design principles; 2) modelling, analysis, and control of dynamic physical systems; 3) selection and interfacing of sensors and actuators for control purposes; 4) advanced topics in mechatronic design. Hardware demonstrations are used throughout, and emphasis is place on physical understanding rather than the mathematical formalities.
