- Reviews some of the research carried out during the development a side impact test procedure for motor vehicles and shows mobile barrier side impact tests; the use of the EUROSID dummy to assess risks of injury to the head, thorax, abdomen and pelvis; the behaviour of the door, sill, door pillars and floor during impact; designing car structures for protection, including use of padding; ways of controlling intrusion of the car side; the use of the European barrier face in side impact tests (fund to give a truer reflection of the injury potential of Eurpean car fronts that the stiffer American barrier face.
