Applying Virtual Environment Technology for Training and Simulation

Synopsis: A video tutorial introducing training and simulation systems, a definition of virtual environments (VE), and a new classification of VE systems. Discusses the hardware and software requirements of VE-based simulation systems and describes a number of possible applications in the realm of defence and aerospace trainers. Describes two prototype systems developed at TNO and draws conclusions from this work regarding future directions.
