Hurricane!

Synopsis
Looks at the attempt of an ageing propeller-driven plane to fly into the eye of the hurricane Gilbert on 6 September 1988. By accurately predicting Gilbert’s path, lives and property could be saved. This required a detailed understanding of how the hurricane worked, where its huge energy came from and what influenced its movement. Gilbert reached Force 5, the most power hurricane known, and devastated Jamaica.
