Description

Colin Somerville interviews Scottish Office minister Lord Mansfield (William Murray) about the traditional winter culling of grey seal pups in the Orkneys and Shetlands. The British Government has announced it is shelving a six-year program to reduce by nearly half the 60,000 grey seal population of Scotland’s west coast. Lord Mansfield says the traditional winter cull would be limited to 2,000 pups while scientists, conversationists and fishermen work out a new program.
