- Description
- Hospitals in London could today be asked to admit emergency cases only because of the current flu epidemic. The London Emergency Bed Service, which decides if the capital’s hospitals are able to cope, has already issued a yellow alert. Today the bed service has to decide whether or not to announce a red alert which would mean hospitals could only take emergency cases and have to send home non-urgent ones. David Piper interviews senior watch keeper, Sandra Mead; St Barts’ duty administrator, John Sharpe(?); St Thomas’s duty officer, Patrick Halloran; patient, Amanda Parts(?).
