- Des Fahy reports from Westminster on Labour Party intitiated debate on the Arms to Iraq scandal following the acquittals verdict in the Matrix Churchill trial. Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary Robin Cook accused ministers of putting the liberty of innocent men at risk by blocking documents essential to their defence. The Government rejected the charges and said ministers did not change guidelines on arms sales or mislead Parliament.
