Summary: 1959 BBC production of A Glimpse of the Sea by Willis Hall, presented by the Midlands television studio. This was the first in a trilogy of Hall’s ‘seaside’ plays to be televised this year (Last Day in Dreamland, A Glimpse of the Sea and A Ride on the Donkeys), although it is not certain that any of these were written for the stage, despite the involvement of the Nottingham Playhouse Company in the first of the television productions.

Production history: Produced at the Lyric, Hammersmith in November 1959, the month following its premiere on BBC Television. It is not known for certain whether this play was written first for the stage or for television. A review in The Observer (15 November 1959, p. 24) seems to suggest the latter.
