Play synopsis: The play, set in an English university town in 1953, concerns a Professor of Anglo-Saxon who comes into contact with a refugee from behind the Iron Curtain who saw his father - another Anglo-Saxon scholar - die in a WWII forced labour camp. The play seeks to set up a contrast between literature and life.
Production history: Performed at the Q Theatre in February 1956, but this was not necessarily the first production of the play.
