One-act study of a broken-down relationship.

Production history

Completed in the autumn of 1967, Landscape was intended for production by Peter Hall at the Aldwych but the Lord Chamberlain refused to grant the play a licence owing language he considered inappropriate. Instead, it premiered on BBC Radio’s Third Programme on 25 April 1968. The Lord Chamberlain’s censorship powers were terminated in 1968, and the play was finally staged in double bill with another Pinter play, Silence, in July 1969.
