Play synopsis: The play concerns a newly-married couple in Birmingham. Reg has a reputation as a Casanova in the factory where they both work, but he loses confidence in himself on their honeymoon when he learns of his wife Shirley’s past affair with a man named Trevor. Haunted by this, he develops a neurosis that threatens to break up the marriage.
Production history: The website http://www.doollee.com/PlaywrightsT/turner-david.html#35097 suggests it was first produced at the Birmingham Rep in 1965, but at the time of writing it seems likely that it may have been produced on stage before the BBC Television production in February 1964.
