Play synopsis: 'Although Kathie, the Tigress on the Hearth, was bred in Albania, she proved a perfect daughter-in-law to a Devonshire family in the England of 1845. Only one misunderstanding arose - when her husband stood for Parliament she sincerely believed that the best way to eliminate an opposition candidate was - to eliminate him. Since Kathie never told a lie the resulting investigation should have presented no difficulties but in the words of Major Brown from London, it was the queerest case he’d ever been employed upon’ (TV Times, 9 August 1957, p. 27).
Production history: A West End production of this play was planned ‘some four years ago, but it was abandoned because no actress suitable for the role of Kathi[e] could be found’ (TV Times, 9 August 1957, p. 18).
