Play synopsis: A comedy in which a jewel thief passes herself off as a society lady, Mrs Cheyney. She and her accomplices are so taken with the charm of the British aristocracy that they begin to feel scruples about robbing them. Lord Dilling recognises one of the gang but gives Mrs Cheyney the choice of sleeping with him or being reported to the police. She chooses the latter but ends up marrying Lord Dilling.
Production history: Opened at the St James’s Theatre in London on 22 September 1925 where it ran for 514 performances. Published by Collins in the same year. It was turned into a film in 1929, 1937 and 1951.
