Play synopsis

The action takes place early in the twentieth century at Madame Pepita’s dressmaking establishment in Madrid, and at her villa at Escorial. Madame Pepita inherits a fortune, which makes her naive daughter, who wishes to be an artist, a target for fortune-hunters.
