Summary: 1962 Associated-Rediffusion production for ITV of scenes from Sophocles’ Antigone, presented alongside scenes from Caste by Thomas William Robertson, in a series for schools titled Patterns of Love (and this was Part 2 of an exploration of the theme of Romeo and Juliet).

Play synopsis: Antigone defies the decree of Creon, King of Thebes, to leave the body of her dead brother Polyneices - who is considered to be an enemy of Thebes - unburied, calling on the unwritten laws of the gods in her defence. Creon condemns her to death and walls her up in a cave. His son Haemon, betrothed to Antigone, is distraught and commits suicide; his wife Eurydice consequently takes her own life too.
