Play synopsis: The play ‘traces the career of a Member of Parliament who, during a period of uncertainty and indecision, finds himself thrown into power; he builds up a political machine which grows beyond his control until it becomes a dictatorship with himself as ‘The Leader’ but a very different one in an intellectual sense from others we have known.'
