Play synopsis: Cockney drama which ‘Tells the story of Sally Winch, a fine spirited girl who has chanced to grow up with clean ideals in sordid circumstances. She cherishes the memory of her soldier lover, and she is so sure he will come back to her when he is demobbed that she meets every trainload of home-coming troops. Many are the men who try to convince her that’ George’ will never return-for they know what happened to him ' at the front’ - and try to steal her for themselves, but Sally remains faithful to her absent lover’ (The Scanner, ‘Cockney Life’, Radio Times, 5 September 1947, p. 29.)
