Play synopsis

Annie Scott, daughter of a Manchester draper in 1913, works for the family business. But she yearns for better things and when her father is offered a good price for his shop she sets her sights on Paris. He, however, must come to terms with the fact that a dance hall will be built on the site of the shop, which sits uneasily with his position on the chapel committee.
