Play synopsis

Comedy. The action of the play takes place in a farmhouse on disputed territory, in the last summer of a long war. The story is of a philandering young army officer.

Production history

First performed at the Bristol Old Vic in March 1950. It was a popular success when it opened at the St James Theatre, London on 9 August 1950.
