Play synopsis: Adapted from the play My Old Dutch by Albert Chevalier and Arthur Shirley, which itself was based on Chevalier’s music hall song of the same name, this musical is the story of the forty year relationship of Cockney Harry Hawkins and Liza. Their happy marriage includes their Nipper and a donkey called Nellie. One strand of the story has their son Herbert turn against his parents but he is reunited them before the end.
