Play synopsis

The action of the play takes place in and around Woodrooff, the country home of the Furze family, in County Tipperary, Ireland. Sir Richard’s meanness and snobbishness - rejecting as a suitable son-in-law a working-class Catholic vet - prevents his daughter from marrying until he is outfoxed at cards by Tiny Fox-Collier.
