Play synopsis: Loyalties deals with a lawyer’s ethical dilemma. ‘The play opens in the country house of Charles Winsor, where a newcomer, Ferdinand de Levis, reports that nearly a thousand pounds has been stolen from his room. A house search, a cross-examination in the home of an English gentleman! Scandal! He openly accuses a fellow guest, Captain Ronald Dancy, D.S.O., known to be hard up but still with blue blood in his veins. Which makes a difference, because de Levis is a Jew and though he has right on his side he soon finds himself up against the clannishness of a society determined to protect one of its members.'
