It includes book reviews, festival reports and feature articles on cinema from both internationally known authorities to previously unpublished cinephiles. The Great Directors section gives an extensive critical assessment of the film-maker’s work, a filmography, selective bibliography and links to other related web resources.

A website that provides a chronological flow of events that lead to the development of television. It is focused on hardware, not television programmes, or programming, or how television influences lives. There is some programme information on the site relating to the ‘first’ shows, and how they were discussed in TV Guide. The majority of information on the site relates to American television. The Collections pages list individuals and organisations from around the world with their own websites and collections; a warning that several links are broken.

An excellent (if unofficial) resource for film scholars and Tarkovsky buffs, this site features news and articles about the Russian director, as well as links to other resources elsewhere on the web. The look of the site is appropriately austere and no-frills but contains information not easily accessible elsewhere, including English translations of writings originally in French, Italian, German, Polish and Russian. A list of documentaries about Tarkovsky is illustrated with screenshots, but no moving images.

This site was created by Ian Wall and James Lennox, who were responsible for Film Education, which ceased to exist as an active organisation in April 2013 (although it still maintains a website and a library of online resources). This resource aims to build on the achievements of Film Education and ‘to encourage and build an understanding and appreciation of the moving image, in all its forms, amongst children and young people in full-time education’. The site features advice and resources for teachers, news of training and events and a number of the interactive CD and DVD ROMs which Film Education produced. These can now be downloaded free of charge from the CD-ROM page. As of March 2017, the resource also includes InCinema 2016 an educational resource based on the Film Distributors’ Association Yearbook 2017 and including up to date research, statistics, film campaign imagery and other information aimed at students of Film and Media Studies, aged 14-18. The resource can be downloaded as a zip file.
