DER is a US-based distributor of documentaries whose mission is to promote thought-provoking documentary film and media for learning about the people and cultures of the world. The first lecture series online was recorded at the Sutton Trust Chemistry Summer School 2004, a week-long workshop featuring chemistry lectures and lab work. The lectures cover a wide range of topics from Organic, Physical and Inorganic chemistries, given by members of the Oxford University Chemistry Department. Over 1500 episodes from 1942 to date of the BBC Radio 4 series are streamed, and some available for download, on its well designed and easy to navigate site. Searches can be made by castaway, books and authors chosen, music selected and luxury items. Searches can also be made by year and by occupation, for example castaways who are musicians, politicians or study in the areas of religion and philosophy. Interviewees are wide ranging - Gerard Hoffnung talking in 1957, Louis Armstrong (1968), Field Marshall Montgomery (1969) and Tennessee Williams (1978).
