Synopsis: Audio podcast. Sixth and final episode of a radio serialisation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Episode scripts were adapted and produced by Catherine Eaton and rendered into modern English verse by Kenneth Cavander. The production was directed by Andy Wolk. Part of the ‘Play On Shakespeare’ project to create more contemporary and accessible versions of the texts for performance.

6. Prospero releases Alonso, Sebastian, Antonia and Gonzala from their spell as he greets them, lovingly embracing Gonzala and chastising the others for their wicked deeds. Alonso begs forgiveness and is rewarded with the reunion of his son, who Prospero reveals with Miranda. As they all rejoice, the Boatswain returns and marvels at the restoration of Alonso’s ship and all their belongings. Prospero reassures them not to be alarmed and turns their attention to the approach of Trinculo, Stephano and Caliban who run into the company as they flee from Prospero’s dogs. The three apologize for their actions. Prospero forgives Caliban and promises the King’s company a safe return after a good night’s rest, during which he will tell them all his story. At last, he releases Ariel to the winds and surrenders his powers once and for all.
