Computer Vision: Machine That See

Synopsis
Human vision seems so effortless: from a young age we see the world in high- definition colour. We can tell the difference between a cat and a hat, and ‘The man who mistook his wife for a hat’ is an anomaly. But despite recent progress, machines still confuse wives for hats. This lecture, examines the phenomenon of computer vision, shows how to build a computer vision system and discusses the expectations for the future.
Part of a series in which Professor of IT Richard Harvey looks at the science of information and explores some of the latest advances in computer technology.
This lecture is also available to download as audio file.
