Synopsis
Included here are rare early colour recordings held by the Central Library of Birmingham. The recordings date from between 1930-1970s and cover:
-Everyday life in Birmingham in the 1930s
-Celebrations in the city to mark the proclamation of King Edward VIII in 1936
-Centenary celebrations of 1938
-Recently discovered unique colour film of the VE Day celebrations in Birmingham
-Colour films of Birmingham’s Trams including the Victory Tram from 1945
-Rare film depicting the many industries which help give Birmingham the title ‘The City of a Thousand Trades’
-The great changes which took place during the 1960s.
