Synopsis

A recording of the first live tour of the Festival of The Spoken Nerd, a show by scientists turn comedians Matt Parker, Helen Arney and Steve Mould. The show explains and demonstrates scientific and mathematical concepts in an entertaining and easy-to-understand manner, peppered with jokes and pop culture references. Some of the experiments are familiar, but the presenters do a good job of giving known facts and figures a new twist; some sketches are less known. For example, John Conway’s game of life. Other stunts involve: binary scarves, cryogenic love songs, gravity-defying bead chains, fire tornados, smoke rings and a spectacular flaming Nerd Anthem finale. There is also a second disc of specially filmed extras, a 20-page booklet full of extra nerdity and more than 5 hours of bonus material on the DVD.
