Our Day out

Synopsis
Drama from 1976, written by Willy Russell. One coach, 30 kids - and their teachers - set out from Liverpool to North Wales. As the volatile mixture erupts, mirth and anarchy prevail while tempers flare. The film deals with traditional English anxieties about class (some of the children are rebellious and uninterested) and whether the education system is turning out low-skilled workers.
The play has been described by Sight & Sound (November 2018), as an excellent example of the history of the BBC’s production of one-off plays.
