Hawick Knitwear
- Synopsis
- The British textiles sector has suffered significantly from the impact of cheaper foreign competition. How should a company that is determined to keep manufacturing in Britain react in the face of fierce competition? Hawick Knitwear is a Scottish textile manufacturer with over 200 employees, which is facing stiff competition. Successful businessman Digby Jones analyses the business and offers a radical solution: focus on exporting. This is the second BBC documentary from The Factory Controller series, which explores the declining power of the British manufacturing industry.
