Glacial Balance

Synopsis
The snowmelt of the Andes mountain accounts for roughly 80% of the water supply for Andean cities, including drinking water, irrigation and hydro-electric power. New evidence suggests that most of the Andean tropical glaciers will disappear in our lifetimes, and this will have a tremendous impact on local industries and cause mass migration. This documentary takes us from Colombia to Argentina and show us how the glacial reserve is melting. Scientists explain what is happening whilst coffee, potato, and quinoa farmers, and fruit and wine exporters tell us, in their own words, about the impact of this change in their livelihoods.
