Postcapitalism: A Guide to Our Future
- Synopsis
- The great economists of the 19th century- Adam Smith, John Stuart Mill, Karl Marx and David Ricardo - were preoccupied with the idea that capitalism could one day collapse. In this talk, author and economics journalist Paul Mason provocatively argues that that time is today. He begins by offering an overview of how the capitalist system has over the past two centuries managed to survive and adapt to the different economic cycles; he then explains why the current model of capitalism has reached its limits and lost its ability to adapt because of the nature of information technology and its impact on work, production and value.
