I Am Not Your Negro
- Synopsis
- Documentary based on James Baldwin’s unfinished novel, ‘Remember this House’. The film’s release, which coincided with the unfolding of the Black Lives Matter protests across the USA, explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin’s reminiscences of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King as well as his personal observations of American history. Baldwin is now acknowledged as one of the key intellectual figures of 20th century America, alongside Gore Vidal, Frantz Fanon and Edward Said.
