Where Should we Begin? With Esther Perel

Synopsis
Do you want to hear or do you want to be right? asks therapist Esther Perel to one of her patients in this first series of recordings of real counselling sessions with 10 anonymous couples in her psychoanalytic practice in New York. The couples are struggling with all kinds of issues, from adultery, sex addiction and trauma to impotence, infertility and sex neglect. Each of the ten episodes is a condensed version of a three-hour therapy session, with Perel’s voiceover occasionally elucidating a point or making a sharp interpretation. Perel has worked as a couples therapist for thirty-three years and her counselling method has been described as unconventional and creative. These podcasts were first exclusively available on Audible, but can now be accessed free on iTunes, though there is an ad in the middle of the session.
