- Suitable for KS3 students, this DVD introduces acids and bases, and outlines their physical and chemical properties. It deals with the following topics:

What are bases? - the alkaline nature of bases; bitter and slippery to touch; their properties when added to water, and how to test for a base.
· pH and indicators - the 0-14 pH scale and how it is used to indicate the strength of acids and bases; how the pH is controlled in a public swimming pool and using indicators and colour charts to test the pH.
· Acids and bases in the home - how to make you own red cabbage juice indicator in the kitchen and test it with common foods, drinks and cleaning products found in the home.
· Mixing acids and bases - common acid and alkaline household products are mixed together and tested to illustrate how this produces a neutral reaction forming salt, water and sometimes a gas. - Language
