Synopsis
This DVD is a compilation of home movies, travelogues and newsreels, made by British and French filmmakers, from professionals to tourists, colonial-era expatriates and Christian missionaries. The collection includes footage of Shanghai’s Nanjing Road in 1900, the Great World Amusement Park in 1929, the Shanghai races in 1937, Beijing street scenes in 1910, and Hangzhou’s canals in 1925. Also included are city scenes from Hong Kong, Chongqing and Guangzhou and scenes from remote villages in Hunan and Yunnan provinces.
