Penda’s Fen

Synopsis
Set in the village of Pinvin in Worcestershire and set to the music of Edward Elgar, Penda’s Fen tells the story of Stephen, a vicar’s son, and his sexual awakening via a series of visions and mystical encounters with figures from England’s pagan past.

The drama was originally broadcast in the ‘Play for Today’ slot on BBC television in 1974 and the BFI’s 2016 Blu-Ray/DVD release is the first time the play has ever been commercially available.

Extras include: The Landscape of Feelings: The road to Penda’s Fen (2016, 16 mins): new documentary on the making of Rudkin and Clarke’s ground-breaking drama, featuring an interviews with writer David Rudkin and producer David Rose, as well as contributions from Clarke collaborators such as writer David Yallop, actor Sean Chapman and playwright David Leland
