Multidimensional Family Therapy: A Research-Proven Innovative Treatment for Substance Abuse

Synopsis
Multidimensional family therapy (MDFT) is a comprehensive, family-centred treatment for adolescent substance abuse and delinquency. MDFT addresses areas of adolescent and parent functioning known to create problems and enhances the factors that solve problems, improve relationships, and restore positive development. In the film Dr. Howard Liddle, developer of MDFT, works with 16-year-old Christian, who has been arrested for purchasing marijuana. The film includes nine condensed therapy sessions with Christian, his mother— a single parent struggling with personal issues, and Christian’s school counsellor. The programme is streamed by Filmakers Library for subscribers wishing to rent for three years or in perpetuity.
