Declining by Degrees: Higher Education at Risk
- Synopsis
- Documentary presented by John Merrow on the state of higher education in the United States. Not only has the cultural commitment to sending all students to college, regardless of wealth, seemed to have receded, more and more experts appear to be finding a tendency within the academic environment to let students "coast through" without learning. Through examinations of the lives of students, professors, and administrators, as well as journeys behind the walls of four drastically different college campuses, the film looks to discover if higher education is indeed, on the decline.
