Synopsis: This DVD offers students experience of a wide range of reactions, including the physical preparation of a selection of gases, the reaction of halogens and oxygen with elements of the third period, and the hydrolysis of the period three halides. It was produced by SEP in partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the School of Chemistry, Cardiff University. There are 43 individual video clips and they are grouped as follows: Laboratory preparation of gases; Physical states of chlorine, bromine and iodine; Reaction of the halogens with elements of the third period; Reaction of oxygen/air with elements of the third period; Reaction of the period three halides with water (hydrolysis).
