Mrs Goundo’s Daughter

Synopsis
This is the story of one mother’s courageous battle to protect her two-year-old daughter from female genital mutilation. Skilfully interweaving Mrs Goundo’s tense, landmark court case in America with the traditional practises of her Malian homeland, where we see the ceremony taking place, and the terrified young girls affected, this documentary says as much about the right to asylum as it does about this international female health issue.
